Where Women Create Magazine: Came for a visit to my studio

I have some very exciting news to share!!

I was privileged to have Jo Packham of
"Where Women Create" magazine
over to my home studio for a photo shoot.

She arrived at my home Monday morning with her sweet friend Gina and fabulous photographer Dana Waldon. As soon as they walked in the door I felt as if I had known them for years. I tell you what, there are just some people that you feel such a familiarity and comfort with immediately. That’s how it was with Jo, Dana and Gina. Maybe it’s because we are all creative souls and somehow, us right brained people, seem to connect on another level. Well, I’ve always said that I think artists must be related in some way or maybe we come from the same constellation. Anyway, I had such a wonderful morning and afterwards, we took a quick trip to a beautiful Chocolate shop in downtown Naperville. What a lovely day and a wonderful memory. I’m not sure when my story will be featured in this beautiful magazine but I’ll post the information as I receive it. If you get a chance, go check out the inspiring studios that are featured in Where Women Create. This gorgeous publication features the studios of many different artists, charming businesses run by women, each woman’s story and loads and loads of beautifully delicious eye candy. You can find Where Women Create Magazine locally at Borders, Barnes and Noble, JoAnne fabrics, Michaels or click on the magazine images above and it will take you to the on line site where you can subscribe to this fabulous treasure.

There I am in my studio working on an illustration during our shoot.

Afterwards, we sat down for some breakfast and

beautifully delicious cupcakes from a local French pastry shop.

Yummy!!

They seemed to make everyone very happy!!!

Well, as you can see, I had a fabulous day!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Honey for the Bees

My poor honey was stung by a bee last week.
His face was so swollen from the sting, I almost didn't recognize him.

Maybe he was stung because he looks so sweet.

I tell ya, these little guys pack a big punch with just one little sting!

but they look so delightfully cute and fuzzy.

Just look at them!

Do you recognize some of these images from last year's Tea Party post.
Just thought I'd share them again since I was thinking about bees this week.

I have a large assortment of Bee things, don't I?

Well, many of these items were given to me as gifts,
except for the 2nd image
which is a painting of mine that I turned into a cover for an altered book.

)
Anyway, my name derives from the bee or one who seeks the sweetness in life.
Friends of mine who know the origins of my name love to give me bee themed gifts.

Aren't they all so sweet?

It's my favorite music video of all time!!

Old things, New things

I love how fashions and styles change yet remain the same.
This Posh Vintage dress from the 70's is one of my favorite finds.
I'd wear this beautifully designed dress to any party.

Well, I know it's the middle of summer

but the stores are starting to show their autumn fashion selections right?
And this Posh Vintage 1970's sweater from Yves Saint Laurent
would be the coolest thing to keep you warm this fall.

Okay! So, here's a cute number that's still perfect for the summer.
It's also a Posh Vintage find.
I just love this fresh little white and black 1950's dress by Ceil Chapman.
The black bow makes a charming statement and accents this dress perfectly.
What a fun summer party dress!

So, speaking of vintage items,
I was digging around in my jewelry box the other day
and I found a pair of earrings that my grandmother left me.
I've had them stored in a box for years
and never once wore them.
I finally decided that it was time to put them on.

then I remembered that my other grandmother left me a beautiful necklace and charms
that I'd never worn either.

I wanted to see how they would look with the new fancy shirt that I bought.

I love the delicate design of these charms.
Well, I think they went perfectly with my new outfit and my new black shoes.

These sweet shoes remind me of something Olive Oil would have worn.
Am I right about that or did she wear boots?
Maybe it was Minnie Mouse that wore this style of shoes.
Anyway, they are the cutest, most comfortable little cartoony shoes that I own.
I bought them at a darling shop called Panache in Saint Charles, IL.
If you are in the area, you must find the time to visit her lovely little shop.

Hope you enjoyed this visit down vintage lane.
